Can GTA IV People Play Episodes From Liberty City People?

I have just ordered my copy of GTA IV (Platinum) for my PS3 and my friend has just bought the Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City disc, now my friend doesn’t have the original GTA disc but can we play online with each other without me buying the expansion pack myself?

Yes you can play. It’s just that the expansion packs have a little more online features. You can play as long as both of you play di same type of game like Team Deathmatch. Both of you can play. Hope that helps.
