When buyin gold for investment purposes is a gram of gold flakes worth the same as a gram of of gold in coin?

I am trying to find out if buying gold flakes or gold wire is worth it, whether it is the same as buying the equivalent in a gold coin etc. I have a chance to buy an ounce in gold flakes and I am trying to find out what it is worth. Being that an ounce of gold is going for about a thousand. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

An ounce is an ounce – but coins are easier to buy and sell, they are the standard.

Aside from that – now is not the time to be buying gold.
